Research Meetings bring together people from around the world, that share an interest in public art; how and why public art is made, and how, once its made, it affects society and the built environment. The meetings act as an international academic exchange platform.
During the meetings we not only celebrate the research of case studies of public art from across the world, but also encourage debate and discussion; casting a self-critical eye on what we do collectively, to question whether what we do is done as well as it can be, and whether assumptions can be justified.
Research Meetings to date:
The 2020 Institute for Public Art Research Network Meeting
The 2018 Institute for Public Art Research Network Meeting

Research Meetings have so far been organised by Shanghai University College of Fine Arts, but the IPA Board would be interested to hear from any University or other suitable organisation, from any country, interested in organising a meeting.
